SportsCare Physiotherapist joins the ACT Sports Medicine Australia Board

August 30, 2012

One of our physiotherapists Sara Guevara has accepted a position on the ACT Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) Board this financial year. SMA is known as Australia’s peak national umbrella body for sports medicine and sports science and is the leading advisory board on all medical and health issues for active people – from weekend enthusiasts of all ages through to elite level competition. The board is made up of several disciplines including a sports physician, sports psychologist, chiropractor, podiatrist, soft tissue therapist, and representatives from the AIS in the physical therapies departments.

Sara was asked to be on the board to represent currently practicing physiotherapists around the ACT and also to bring forth the viewpoint as a recent graduate. This position will allow SportsCare to increase our awareness of advances in injury managment and sports medicine as well as helping to build relationships with other medical professionals in the ACT. We congratulate Sara on her new position and look forward to implementing ideas and gaining knowledge so as to provide a more holistic approach for all our patients.
