Myles Roantree reports on U17s at the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships

July 19, 2012

Our Strength and Conditioning specialist Myles Roantree, who works at our Dickson clinic, ventured down to Dandenong, Victoria for the Australian Junior Volleyball Champions two weeks ago. His ACT U17s who were classed as the “underdogs” put on a classy show and came 7th place out of 13 teams and made a lot of other teams take notice! Here is his report on the event:

“8 days looking after 15 teenage girls, was definitely an experience, lots of learning done by all involved! Great results on the court with performances over the first couple of days placing the team through to the championship bracket, and the opportunity to play for medals. On the last day of bracket play, the team needed at least one win from two matches to play off for a Bronze Medal. The first match against WA, was a very tight affair, lasting over 2.5 hours and a loss by two points in the 5th set, was a heart breaker. Next was a must win against SA, again a nail biter going to five sets. History repeated itself with a 2.5 hour tear jerker of a loss, by 3 points in the 5th set. With a final 7th place finish from 13 teams, and a lot of other teams taking notice of the underdogs of the tournament, a fun time was had by all!”

Congratulations to Myles and his team on their hard work and overall achievements and look forward to the results in Championships in years to come!
