SportsCare is still open! All our clinics are open for regular in-clinic appointments, but for those of you who can no longer physically make it to see our physiotherapists, we are now offering Telehealth.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is an online service that allows you to connect with your SportsCare physiotherapist or health care professional and it allows us to continue to provide ongoing care and maintain continuity of your rehabilitation journey.
Telehealth can be conducted via a virtual conference room or over the phone.
How will Telehealth work with Physiotherapy?
Booking your appointment is easy. You can either contact your therapist directly or via phone. Your appointment will be confirmed by with an email address with details regarding your appointment.
At SportsCare, our virtual platform is Physitrack.
What equipment do I need to make Telehealth work?
To connect to your appointment, you’ll need either a laptop with a webcam, a tablet or phone, a well-lit room, and a high-speed internet connection. If you’re hard of hearing, you may also require portable speakers or headphones/ or earphones.
What else do I need to do for this appointment?
Just like visiting your physiotherapist appointment face-to-face, you will need:
- Comfortable clothing that is suitable depending on the area of the body we are assessing.
- Any relevant information regarding your health concern. E.g. health summaries, radiological investigations or other relevant information that you are happy to share.
On occasion, you may also like to have another person within the room that could assist the therapist in the assessment. This person can either enhance environmental setup, another support person for you, or be the set of ‘hands’ that you would have access to in face-to-face appointments.
What are some of the benefits of Telehealth?
- Maintain access to high-quality care with your therapist for ongoing care, assessment, diagnosis, referral, education and exercises being monitored and progressed.
- Ergonomic desk set up assessments for the office or working from home.
- Reduce the inconvenience of travel, costs of transport or parking.
- Increase the ability to access your therapist, especially if you are time poor or unable to get away from work or home life.
- Telehealth assessments for certain musculoskeletal conditions have been proven to be just as effective as one to one physiotherapy.
How long are the appointments?
- Initial appointments are 40 minutes.
- Follow up appointments are 20 minutes.
Can you obtain a rebate for Telehealth services?
Telehealth is recognised by some Private Health Funds and can be claimed. Please check with your provider. Currently, rebates through DVA, NDIS, Worksafe, TCA and Medicare are evolving and may change in the future.
